Shortly after marrying Pepe Sancho, María receives the hardest blow of her life when she loses her daughter Rocío in a traffic accident, when she was only 16 years old. A blow from which María never recovers and which makes her incapable of living alone, somehow forcing her to accept and maintain her marriage to Pepe Sancho for 22 years during which physical and psychological abuse and also infidelities become commonplace.
