An impoverished advocate faces challenges after he falls in love with a wealthy woman who has a look-alike courtesan sister.

Uma (Mumtaz Shanti) and Babul (Suresh) are poor and homeless siblings. Both of them have got singing talent but are unable to find any job. Then they meet Nirmal who is younger brother of theater owner Janki Babu. Nirmal persuades his brother to give them a chance. After seeing their talent, Janki Babu also admires Uma and gives her leading role at his theater. Then Nirmal and Uma fall in love with each other and get married. However, Nirmal has a misunderstanding that his elder brother also likes Uma and wanted to marry her. He does not approve of Uma's job in theater but himself is struggling to find a job. Uma leaves the job and they also also leave Janki babu's house. Now they have a small baby daughter, Manju. But soon they see the true face of poverty and struggle to cope with it.

Sixteen-year-old Mehna falls in love with a doctor from the city who plans on taking advantage of her. When he leaves her after she refuses his advances, Mehna's cousin steps in to care for her.

Indian (Sohail Khan), or I, as he goes by, is distraught when he must move to London with his father in order to live with the rest of his family, who have been living in England for a while. When the Indian-born Sunil (Rajit Kapoor) stops getting letters from his father back home, he takes a break from his lucrative corporate gig in the States and pays dad a visit. But once in Calcutta, Sunil learns that his father moved away a few years earlier, prompting Sunil to go searching for him. As he follows the scant trail, Sunil starts to understand that his selfish lifestyle bore grave consequences for his father.

Rekha, Dharmendra, Jagdeep and Chandrashekhar star in this tale of romance set against the backdrop of Indian history.

Bitter animosity and hatred has existed between the communities of Jangavar and Dilavar. While Dilavar's Roshan wants to bring peace between everyone, he sets an example by marrying Chandni. This enrages the Jangavars' who attack the Dilavars, killing Roshan. Before dying, Roshan asks his twin brother, Raka, to promise that he will bring peace by getting their brother, Badal, married to Shaka's sister, Reshma. Raka attempts to carry out his promise, by letting both meet and fall in love with each other. When the time comes for Badal to propose to Reshma, she accepts with one condition - that Badal kill Raka and bring his severed head to Jangavar. The question is will Badal sacrifice his brother's life to marry Reshma and bring peace between the two communities?

D.N. Nagar Police are summoned to a Chawl where they arrest Abhay Chawla, who was recently discharged from jail after serving a two-year sentence for running over a man. While being held in the prison cell, Abhay reflects on his life - his acrimonious relationship with his mom, Aarati; brother Rohan; and Bhabi Priya. Not only did they never visit him in prison but they also moved without informing him. Upon being dramatically re-united, Rohan permits him to live with them and even hires him in his garage. Abhay brings a wheelchair-bound physically challenged woman, Sonal Mahajan, to a family gathering, and Rohan asks both to leave.
