The film depicts a couple who go on a trip to Hawaii to relieve their daily frustration and get caught up in various commotions. Written by Masakuni Takahashi ("Minatomachi Gentlemen's Record"), directed by Tomio Kuriyama (this was his first film), and photographed by Kosuke Yasuda. Theme song is by Davey Smith ("Itoshi no Lahaina").

When Sarah Marshall dumps aspiring musician Peter Bretter for rock star Aldous Snow, Peter's world comes crashing down. His best friend suggests that Peter should get away from everything and to fly off to Hawaii to escape all his problems. Chad Gates has just been discharged from the Army, and is happy to be back in Hawaii with his surf-board, his beach buddies and his girlfriend.
