Sabine and Natacha are 22. They live ‘here’, in the sticks, next door to each other. One day, Natacha has an opportunity: leave ‘here’ to go ‘over there’, thus abandoning Sabine. This act of treason will prove fatal.

4 young people are long time friends. They have a dinner together, which will turn into a mess when they play a game which consists in writing a vow on a little piece of paper to be put into a bottle: they love each other, but they are not able to transcend their loneliness and their selfishness.

Matti and Niila, growing up in the mid-sixties in the harsh and conservative environment of a Finnish-speaking part of Tornedalen in Swedish Laponia, close to the Finnish border. Their big dream is to become rock stars. In the present the now grown-up Matti feels guilt for the death of his drug-addicted rock star friend Niila.

Meanwhile, a baker starts harassing the family when they fail to pick up the boy's birthday cake.
