This is quite a fun pioneering romp through the pages of the early history of the British in Canada. Centred around the exploits of Pierre Radisson (Paul Muni), his larger than life sidekick "Gooseberry" (Laird Cregar) and the somewhat discredited Lord Crewe (John Sutton), the story depicts their efforts to export hundreds of thousands of extremely valuable pelts to Europe, Muni is on great form as the intrepid entrepreneur who manages to fall in and out with just about everyone from the locals, the French and finally King Charles II (Vincent Price) in London - who grants them a charter to form the now legendary Hudson's Bay Trading Company. The dialogue is quickly paced and quite funny at times, though a bit on the wordy side, and the three gents manage to keep the action coming thick and past - with (perhaps only a scant) nod to history as they go. Gene Tierney only fleetingly provides the love interest for Crewe and Virginia Field is also on hand to demonstrate that Nell Gwynn had more than a little influence on her Sovereign. The photography is suitably grand in the wilderness and sumptuous at King Charles' court, and Alfred Newman's score helps this adventure story to entertain.
One little ancient British village still holds out against the Roman invaders. Asterix and Obelix are invited to help. They must face fog, rain, warm beer and boiled boar with mint sauce, but they soon have Governor Encyclopaedius Britannicus's Romans declining and falling. Until a wild race for a barrel of magic potion lands them in the drink.
In war-torn colonial America, in the midst of a bloody battle between British, the French and Native American allies, the aristocratic daughter of a British Colonel and her party are captured by a group of Huron warriors. Fortunately, a group of three Mohican trappers comes to their rescue.
When marauding Romans capture - and catapult - their pal Getafix into lands unknown, the shrewd and cunning Asterix and his able sidekick Obelix spring into action! But their journey leads them to a strange and dangerous new world, where they must face a tribe of Indians, a stampeding herd of buffalo and a medicine man with designs on their magic potion!
Asterix and Obelix depart on an adventure to complete twelve impossible tasks to prove to Caesar that they are as strong as the Gods. You'll roar with laughter as they outwit, outrun, and generally outrage the very people who are trying to prove them "only human".

The rebellious Thracian Spartacus, born and raised a slave, is sold to Gladiator trainer Batiatus. After weeks of being trained to kill for the arena, Spartacus turns on his owners and leads the other slaves in rebellion. As the rebels move from town to town, their numbers swell as escaped slaves join their ranks. Under the leadership of Spartacus, they make their way to southern Italy, where they will cross the sea and return to their homes.

The history of the eau of Cologne goes back to almost four centuries, a history formed by extraordinary myths, family feuds and treacherous acts of commercial plagiarism. Its gradual use is a reflection of the evolution of society and its morality, in relation to body and hygiene, a gesture of intimacy.
