Στο γαλλικό εστιατόριο «Chez Philippe», η μέρα του σεφ Βασίλη Κόκκορη έχει ξεκινήσει στραβά. 'Εχει χάσει ένα στοίχημα, έχει κακοκοιμηθεί, έχει νεύρα, τσακώνεται με τη μάνατζερ Κίκα που τον πιέζει να ανανεώσει το μενού, ενώ ο ιδιοκτήτης Φίλιππος του αναθέτει να εντυπωσιάσει με τις μαγειρικές του ικανότητες τον ιδιοκτήτη του ανταγωνιστικού εστιατορίου που πρόκειται να ανοίξει δίπλα τους. Αυτά όμως δεν είναι τίποτα, μπροστά στην ξαφνική εμφάνιση του νεαρού πεισματάρη μάγειρα Μάνθου, που έχει όνειρο να δουλέψει στο «Chez Philippe». Ο Βασίλης τον θεωρεί άχρηστο, οι άλλοι μάγειροι του βάζουν τρικλοποδιές και η Κίκα θέλει να τον ξεφορτωθεί, καθώς το προηγούμενο βράδυ είχε μαζί του μια άδοξη ερωτική περιπέτεια. Οι αντιρρήσεις όλων θα οδηγήσουν σε μια παρεξήγηση προς όφελος του Μάνθου, που θα καταφέρει να προσληφθεί δοκιμαστικά. Και τότε οι περιπέτειες αρχίζουν!
