One of the suspects in the case was first charged, later acquitted, but never really free of an aura of culpability. British actress Belinda Lee plays the title role with her voice dubbed over in German.

Gerd Bräuning - Das Kriminalmuseum was a German television series. It ran from 1963 to 1970 on ZDF and was one of its first programs. Each episode began with a tracking shot through an unspecified crime museum, stopping at one of the displays, whose story was then told. Each episode was between 60 and 75 minutes long and featured different actors as the criminal commissioner. The best known was Erik Ode, who in 1969 moved to Der Kommissar, appearing in 97 episodes. The theme music of the series was written by German composer Martin Böttcher, who also composed the complete scores for five episodes.

Cliff Dexter is a former FBI agent who - working as a private investigator - in a German city. Parts of the series were filmed in Hamburg, including the startup sequence, runs in his Mercedes Benz Dexter Cliff SEb convertible through the Wallringtunnel to his office. The series was, although popular with audiences, not continued after 26 episodes, probably partly because the critics little good at the 'pocket-Bond' was. Yet in this series broadcast period 1966-1968 reached regularly 36-38 million viewers.
