As the second work of young director Ran Yinxiao, "May the Rivers and Seas Flow Upward" is set in Chongqing and tells a different kind of family story between three people who are not related by blood. The film has a time span of nearly a century and records the life trajectories of two generations and two families.
Childhood friends Matías and Jerónimo reach adolescence and experience sexual attraction to each other, before being separated by circumstances. Later, as young adults, they meet again, and the film follows themes of complicated relationships and sexual tensions, as well as issues of homophobia
The passionate relationship between two men with unusual consequences. The film is divided in two parts.
