An unfortunately damaged film, which I mean literally. There is some heavy nitrate damage in some spots, and the second reel is entirely missing. Despite this, I did enjoy the movie, and consider myself lucky to get to see any film of Olive Thomas that has survived. The car chase at the end was good fun. Not the absolute best story, but good enough to keep my interest.
Simon Haldane works in the office of the Faulkner Iron Works, but he has been raised by his two maiden aunts in an extremely sheltered manner and is basically afraid of everyone and everything. Fannie Brand, an industrious girl who supports her brother and sister by working in a theatrical costume house, falls in love with Joe Halsey, a young fellow who earns a precarious living demonstrating an elastic exerciser in a drugstore window. Fannie and Joe set a date to be married, but the wedding is called off when Fannie finds Joe making love to her unprincipled sister, Edna. Fannie auditions for Landau, a theatrical producer, and goes on the Broadway stage. Fannie is a great success, and she and Joe soon find their way back into each other's arms.
