I'm Minar. This is the love story of me and Sahat (and... my mother-in-law). Exciting. Annoying. Excited. At the same time very challenging. Plus the background of a large Batak family which is full of drama and assumptions, my stories often end up being ridiculous and almost making me frustrated. Moreover, my mother-in-law and I have different beliefs about love and happiness, especially when it comes to Sahat, our favorite.
A Batak family plans to perform Mangokal Holi — a ceremony to honor ancestors. However, chaos erupts when their great grandfather's skeleton is suddenly lost.
Back when urbanization was a new phenomenon, this film captured the aspirations desired by three young men from North Sumatera of Batak ethnicity. As the case with other regional area, people from the rural realm were convinced that their way of live is inadequate, so that they "need" to make it in the city, or bust. So Sabar, Tigor and Sahat went up and down their luck in order to find their desired "gold" in a strange land.
A remake of 1973 film of the same name. "Bulan di Atas Kuburan" is a tale of hardships in the capital city. Sahat, Tigor and Sabar ; three friends from Samosir, North Sumatra, quest after greatness whilst deperately holding on to their inner idealism.
The story of a woman named Likas who gets special accomplishments and successes, as she holds fast to pledge to the three most important people in her life: her father Ngantari, her brother Njohre, and her husband Djamin. In Karo, North Sumatra, there is a custom: when a woman has to work, then the disgrace belongs to the family. However, Likas still wants to move forward. Therefore she opposes the custom. She attends school because she wants to be a teacher. She looses her mother because of stress. With the help of her brother, she could become a teacher.
A married couple stages their divorce in order to encourage their estranged adult children to return to their hometown.
Set in an urban fairytale, DeShawn (an unlikely anti-hero) is smack-dabbing in the middle of a peculiar crossroads. He is haunted by the ghosts of one hundred men: ex-“boyfriends,” in addition to the ghosts of everyone they dated. His days are filled with spiraling epiphanies and lucid, reckless bohemianism fueled by systemic poverty and HIV ennui. In this particular sketch he is relating his philosophy of the world to an unknown caller on his landline telephone while magically shrink-fitting a new pair of jeans that he recently shoplifted from Levi’s. Commissioned by Visual AIDS in 2017 as part of ALTERNATE ENDINGS, RADICAL BEGINNINGS, a program of seven videos prioritizing Black narratives within the ongoing AIDS epidemic curated by Erin Christovale and Vivian Crockett.
A NASA physicist who feels his life was derailed in 1996 when his sister was killed in a high school shooting finds a way to go back in time in an attempt to alter history. An ultra-low budget film shot over a period of 10 years at George Fox University.
A wife and mom with secret dreams of being a stand-up comic uses a one night stand with a burned-out touring comedian to face the harsh but funny truths of her failing marriage, neglected aspirations, and individual identity.
Graceful Sofia falls in love with Alkis, a charming young writer. They make plans for the future; but, one day, her boss, Memas, enters the picture: a tough guy who owns a cabaret in Trouba, and wants Sofia back.
With a technical education background, Eva (Eva Arnaz) tries to become an entrepreneur by opening a workshop. He was assisted by several friends, and it turned out that soon his efforts were quite advanced. Rudy (Geroge Rudy), one of his customers, is interested in Eva's beauty, who is considered a good-looking woman. Tit for tat, Eva received Rudy's love. Unfortunately the relationship between the two men did not get the blessing of Rudy's parents. Eva, in the eyes of Rudy's parents, was considered too low for her prospective engineer. Because the relationship between Rudy and Eva is getting tighter, finally Rudy's parents bless him too.
