After a bullying incident leads to tragedy, four former High school friends reconnect at a vacation home where a maniacal killer stalks the night.

Pakistan - present day, a Stranger in a bandaged mask embarks upon a random killing spree with a gun. After shooting eight people dead, he realizes that nobody seems to care about what he is doing. So he gets onto a TV show with a plan to kill himself live on air. A Filmmaker emerges from this dream, with no mask, gun or dead people. Just a camera in his hand. Then his real troubles begin. Persecuted, paranoid and on the run, the filmmaker becomes confused whether he is still trapped in his dream, or whether Pakistan itself might have lost grip on reality.

While driving through the New Mexico Desert during a rainy night, college students Jim Halsey and his girlfriend Grace Andrews give a ride to a hitchhiker. While in their car, the stranger proves to be a psychopath threatening the young couple with a knife, but Jim successfully throws him out of the car. This sets off a chain of events that will change all of their lives forever.

People mysteriously start receiving voicemail messages from their future selves, in the form of the sound of them reacting to their own violent deaths, along with the exact date and time of their future death, listed on the message log. The plot thickens as the surviving characters pursue the answers to this mystery which could save their lives.

When a series of horrible murders occurs in the metro area, Cole is assigned to the case, along with tough-talking fellow cop Jim Campbell. Although the two men clash, they gradually become effective partners as they uncover a conspiracy linked to the killings, which also involves terrorism and organized crime.
