The idea behind Ya Rab is to show how Islam has been used as a tool to propagate terrorism. The film focuses on issues where so called self proclaimed Maulanas (Islamic Preachers) misinterpret The Quran and its real meaning to breed terrorists and terrorist activity. Ya Rab is a genuine effort to show the right face of Islam and to guide the misguided on the right path.

It's 1947 and the borderlines between India and Pakistan are being drawn. A young girl bears witnesses to tragedy as her ayah is caught between the love of two men and the rising tide of political and religious violence.

Ishaan Awasthi is an eight-year-old whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate. Colours, fish, dogs, and kites don't seem important to the adults, who are much more interested in things like homework, marks, and neatness. Inspired by the freedom fighters they represent in the film, the friends collectively decide to avenge the killing.

This story is about five criminals who were taken by the inspector-in-charge Vijay for help to the village. Inspector Vijay take those criminals at his own risk as the higher authority denies his approval. Daku Mangal Singh also exploits women in the village. Does Vijay succeed in his mission.
