Didn't know I had a favourite _Rush Hour_ movie until today. I guess I do, and it's this one. Still pretty crap though. _Final rating:★★ - Definitely not for me, but I sort of get the appeal._
OK, for those of you who, like me, liked Rush Hour, do yourselves a favor and stay away from this. What we have here is basically Lethal Weapon 4 set in Hong Kong rather than LA. And... it just doesn't work. Everything (save the stars) that made the first one funny is kind of out of place and forgotten. It's horrible. The fish out of water scenario fits well in Rush Hour, but set in Hong Kong, Tucker comes across as obnoxious instead of funny. It's horrible.
Cosmo Vittelli, the proprietor of a sleazy, low-rent Hollywood cabaret, has a real affection for the women who strip in his peepshows and the staff who keep up his dingy establishment. He also has a major gambling problem that has gotten him in trouble before. When Cosmo loses big-time at an underground casino run by mobster Mort, he isn't able to pay up. Mort then offers Cosmo the chance to pay back his debt by knocking off a pesky, Mafia-protected bookie.
A casino security guard is forced into violence from when the Hong Kong mob threatens his friends.
A cop clashes with his priest brother while investigating the brutal murder of a young prostitute.
A television reporter interviews fighters and promoters about Bruce Lee in preparation for a tournament to claim the title of “Successor to the Bruce Lee legacy”. Footage from Bruce Lee's films and interviews is repurposed in pseudo-documentary style.
A Hong Kong martial arts movie redubbed by situationist René Viénet. The narrative focuses on a conflict between proletarians and bureaucrats within state capitalism. The proletarians enlist their grasp of dialectics in the fight against their oppressors, while the bureaucrats defend themselves using a combination of co-optation and violence.
A martial arts coach struggles to earn money through fights in order to save his wife suffering from blood cancer.
A grissled cop with tendencies towards excessive force teams up with an ambitious and righteous prosecutor to track down a dangerous crime boss whom they both want desperately to catch. But their quarry resorts to devious methods to stall their investigation and eventually turn them against each other. Now the stage is set for a dangerous triangle.
Johnny Owes But they'll pay. This is an award-winning independently produced, "Ong Bak" and "Tom Yum Goong" style martial arts action short film. Meaning it features action choreography that employs the use of real contact whenever possible.
A pair of bus drivers accidentally steal their own bus. With the company issuing a warrant for their arrest, they tag along with a playboy on a boat trip that finds them on a tropical island, where a jewel thief has sinister plans for them.
After surviving an attempt on his life by his former partner, officer Cliff Garrett (Norris) exacts revenge on those who wronged him by going undercover as a hit man.
