The Godfathers of Hardcore

On August 23, 2018, Beach House performed a stunning, career-spanning set at Brooklyn’s historic Kings Theatre. Performing music from their latest album '7' and stretching back through 2010’s 'Devotion', Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally brought their moody and mysterious dream pop to life, backed by state-of-the-art visuals, in a venue as grand and majestic as their music.

This is Poe and Král's first effort, shot on small-gauge stock, before their more well-known endeavor The Blank Generation (1976) came to be. A "DIY" portrait of the New York music scene, the film is a patchwork of footage of numerous rock acts performing live, at venues like Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, the dive bars of Greenwich Village and, of course, CBGB.

Zu, a free spirit estranged from her family, suddenly finds herself the sole guardian of her half-sister, Music, a teenager on the autism spectrum whose whole world order has been beautifully crafted by her late grandmother. The film soon challenges whether it is Zu or Music who has a better view of the world, and that love, trust, and being able to be there for each other is everything.
