Mary Goes Round

The story of two childhood friends who have grown apart and are suddenly thrust back into each others lives when a parent develops cancer. They join forces to find the cure but soon realize their lives are danger if they expose the truth.

Ten years after being thrown out of her parental home, Nur hears that her mother is at death's door. Taking her young daughter with her, Nur hurries back to her father's world to see, and reconcile with her mother before it is too late. While the universal theme of mother-daughter relationships lies at the centre of the film, this is underpinned by an allusive subtext of incest, one of most common but least addressed social problems in Turkey. The individual stories of the family members combine with a sense of hope fuelled by tragedy to paint a portrait of the socially disconnected.

Gift for the Living is a story about love, friendship, loss and sacrifice.

In this microcosm of the modern world, three couples, each at a different stage of their lives and relationship, face up to the conflicts of their differing cultures, backgrounds and beliefs.

Zhenzhen is smuggled into Trinidad and is threatened upon her arrival. Her brother Wei, who is working on the island in construction, intervenes and although he doesn’t have the money, he promises to pay her debt. Wei finds Zhenzhen a job at a Chinese restaurant and tries to get an advance from his employer.
