André Rieu - Falling in Love

The Vrijthof concerts have been going for ten years and this anniversary was all the excuse André Rieu needed to make things extra festive and put on a fantastic, unforgettable anniversary concert with his new DVD, ‘Love In Venice’ – a selection of favourites from the concert. For this tenth concert series he had the Vrijthof square specially decorated in Venetian style, complete with a Doge’s Palace, Rialto Bridge, a fabulous Italian fountain and a colourful Venetian masquerade and it was a party from start to end. Love In Venice is an evening full of wonderful Italian music, world hits like Funiculi funicula, Tiritomba and Vieni sul mar and fabulous operatic arias. For the occasion of this anniversary, the Italian singer Rocco Granata came to sing his world hit Marina. Thanks to the perfect sound and image recordings on this DVD you can enjoy it at home just as though you were there yourself.

This blockbuster program presents a dynamic concert featuring guest artists, equestrian riders, fireworks and a delightful collection of musical favorites performed by the incomparable Johann Strauss Orchestra.

It always gives me great pleasure to host our summer evening concerts on the beautiful Vrijthof square in my home town of Maastricht. But this time we had something extra to celebrate: a silver jubilee! The Johann Strauss Orchestra and I have been appearing on stage together for 25 years this year. Every reason to revisit some of the highlights of our career: Frédéric Jenniges with his zither, Carla Maffioletti with her virtuoso aria Adèle’s Laughing Song (Mein Herr Marquis), the Mastreechter Staar male voice choir, the Platinum Tenors, the seductive Carmen Monarcha with Habanera, Kimmy Skota with the emotional Casta Diva, a reunion with our Russian friends from St Petersburg, and much more...

"Hip Hop Symphonique" features French rap's greatest hits, arranged and performed live with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Hip-hop is quick to use codes to its advantage, and has found its own tempo thanks to concerts given with the complicity of Mouv'. The fifth edition features Lous And The Yakuza, Maes, Meryl, Passi and Soolking.

The 6th edition of Hip Hop Symphonique with Dinos, Benjamin Epps, Doria, Laeti, MC Solaar, Selah Sue at the Radio France auditorium under the artistic direction of Issam Krimi and the orchestral direction of Dylan Corlay. The concert features songs by Erremsi, Elodia, Douboukan and Vinz Slam.

Never before has Hip Hop Symphonique offered such an extensive program: no less than 14 rappers and the musicians of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and 10 musicians from the live band The Ice Kream perform on the Auditorium stage in front of an audience of 1,200. This new edition features a unique artistic encounter between the beatbox group Berywam, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and The Ice Kream, the presence of dancers, a prima ballerina, a gospel choir and the exceptional participation of Jean-Pascal Zadi.

On August the 15th, 1945, after the official surrender of the Empire of Japan, Admiral Matome Ugaki led the last Special Attack Force pilots across the Pacific, to crash into American ships. Thirty-five years later, the men who serviced the aeroplanes are still meeting up for their annual dinner. Now settled into civilian jobs - dentist, baker, taxi-driver, insurance salesman - and with children and grandchildren, they bemoan the decay of traditional Japanese values. Hard liquor is imbibed, toasts raised to the memory of the heroic dead, and old rivalries resurface. The survivors' dissatisfaction with post-war life comes to a head when, in a moment of drunken inspiration, Tokkotai the airline pilot decides on a symbolic gesture to show that the kamikaze spirit lives on.
