The Sin Sister

At the end of the Spanish Civil War, the members of a group of vaudeville performers have been stripped of everything: all they have left is hunger and the instinct to survive. Day after day, agonizingly, lost and helpless between the victors and the vanquished, the musician Jorge, the ventriloquist Enrique, the couplet singer Rocío and the orphan Miguel search tirelessly for something to eat and a safe place to live.

The vaudeville act of Harriet and Queenie Mahoney comes to Broadway, where their friend Eddie Kerns needs them for his number in one of Francis Zanfield's shows. When Eddie meets Queenie, he soon falls in love with her—but she is already being courted by Jock Warriner, a member of New York high society. Queenie eventually recognizes that, to Jock, she is nothing more than a toy, and that Eddie is in love with her.

Newly arrived in town Nat and Gabe accept a dinner invitation from the volatile Hungarian Helene and her boorish husband Sasha. Whilst the other guests, ex-Bananarama member Marty, Angie, who 'makes bullets' and the supposedly suicidal Danny are affable enough, Nat and Gabe are shocked by their hosts' very public rows and Gabe's attempt at peace-making is awkwardly received. Nat is taken aback when virtual stranger Helene confides in her about Sasha's suspected infidelity and Gabe is rudely rebuffed when he tries to have a heart to heart with Sasha. Then they meet Nirmal who is younger brother of theater owner Janki Babu. Nirmal persuades his brother to give them a chance. After seeing their talent, Janki Babu also admires Uma and gives her leading role at his theater. Then Nirmal and Uma fall in love with each other and get married. However, Nirmal has a misunderstanding that his elder brother also likes Uma and wanted to marry her. He does not approve of Uma's job in theater but himself is struggling to find a job. Uma leaves the job and they also also leave Janki babu's house. Now they have a small baby daughter, Manju. But soon they see the true face of poverty and struggle to cope with it.

A young Vishwak meets Sweta and falls in love with her. Their relationship begins to dwindle when Vishwak becomes increasingly manipulative and selfish to succeed in life.

The film revolves around Akira, who is reminiscing his life, his trysts with love and how he turned out to be the responsible man that his businessman father he eventually wanted to be.
