The film depicts the story of Mohan, who has just arrived from Banaras to Mumbai city. He is disturbed to see how people live in cramped houses in the city of Mumbai. His entire world tilts upside down when his wife leaves him for reasons which are untrue. His family too discards him and disrespects him.

The story is about a house consisting of three families who live in it. It is three stories linked by the house.

After her husband's death, Manorama is left alone with an infant daughter. The daughter falls ill due to poor nutrition, and in an act of desperation Manorama leaves the daughter in front of the house of Seth Jagatnarayan Chaudhary, a wealthy man who, having recently lost his wife, decides to adopt the girl. The following day, Manorama manages to get a job in the house as a servant but while she gets to care for Sarita like a mother, she longs for a day when her daughter might call her mom. Meanwhile Sarita grows up to be a beautiful girl who soon finds herself in some romantic entanglements.

Then a young woman named Mala enters his life, and both fall in love with each other. When Mala finds out about Ramu's career, she makes him promise that he will go straight. He does go straight, gets a job, and when he is laid off he takes to helping Dhondu catch fish. Then Ramu's world gets turned upside when Inspector Hemant, while apprehending Shankar, guns down Laxmi. An enraged Ramu decides that he must kill Hemant at any cost. Watch what impact this will have on Hemant's mom, his dad, and Mala herself as she watches Ramu descent into the very hell that she had tried to redeem him from.

Then a man is found dead wearing the clothes of Kumar Vijay, and Kumar Vijay must now decide to stay away from his new residence, or continue to live there, and fear for his life everyday until death.
