Earth, Wind & Fire are one of the most dynamic and creative funk bands to come out of the seventies and also one of the most successful. Earth, Wind & Fire was led by Maurice White and this DVD captures them on stage in Japan in 1990 during the last tour that Maurice made with the group following the release of the "Heritage" album. Spectacularly staged as ever, the concert features all their best-loved songs. The famed group, featuring the talents of Maurice White, Philip Bailey, and Verdine White perform live from the Tokyo Dome in Japan during their "Heritage" tour. Features some of their greatest hits. His “Isle Of Wight” concert, which is presented on this disc, features many of Jimi’s best material, supported by his “Experience” band, with Billy Cox on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. “Freedom”, “Voodoo Chile”, “All Along The Watchtower”, “Red House”, and “Machine Gun” are only a few of the highlights on this disc. During this infamous concert, Jimi was also playing “New Rising Sun” and “Lover Man”, both of which are unfortunately missing from this recording for some reason.

In January 1985, Midnight Oil performed Oils on the Water, a concert on Goat Island in Port Jackson to celebrate Triple J's tenth birthday, before a select audience of fans who had won tickets in a radio competition. The concert was filmed, simulcast on ABC-TV and Triple J, and released on video, which was remastered for their 2004 Best of Both Worlds DVD. Oils on the Water: A classic Midnight Oil performance was recorded on Goat Island in Sydney Harbour on 13 January 1985. Never before or since has the band performed in such a setting; every time Peter Garrett turned up stage he was caught in the light of the setting sun, reflected by the city and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Over to London this weekend for a concert by 70′s legends Supertramp, recorded by the BBC as part of their Sight and Sound series on November 17, 1977. Forming in 1969, Supertramp quickly rose in popularity and established themselves as one of the most popular of the crossover Art-Rock/mainstream bands. They became a staple on FM and had a string of huge selling singles and albums. Their popularity began to fade in the 1980′s as musical tastes changed with Art-Rock falling out of favor with New Wave. The band eventually went on extended hiatus and reformed later with personnel changes. But there was a time in the mid-seventies where you couldn’t turn on a radio without hearing at least one, if not several Supertramp songs in one sitting; all of which you knew by heart.
