XI "A" follows the story of Lina - a former dancer, who goes in for her dream job, namely to become a literature teacher.

These visitors include a police officer, a playwright, a banker, a convict, and an unmarried mother.

Marie, the charming daughter of Italian immigrants, has a dream : to become rich. In Roubaix, where she lives, she meets and marries small-time crooner Marcel Potier. Together they leave for the South of France where they live happily but poorly.
