In 1980's Madrid, five-year-old boy Ivan is confronted with the birth of his new brother. His sister is Dad's favorite, and the newborn will be Mom’s favorite. So where does that leave Ivan? If only he could grow wings and get away from it all...

El and Jali, a twenty-something couple from Sydney’s Inner West, arrive at a house party. As El wanders through the house, she experiences a myriad of gender performances, and finds kinship in another girl, Fleur. The night changes route completely when they are confronted by a violent figure.

Follows two women who re-encounter each other after 30 years apart. Against all odds, they fall in love once again, and despite that youth is no longer on their side, they decide to spend the remaining of their twilight years in each other’s arms, no matter how much that may be.

18 year old Em goes on a journey, with biscuits from her grandmother that she eats and shares with new friends. When down to her last biscuit, Em has to make a choice: eat it, or save it as a final link to her home.

After World War II, Antonia and her daughter, Danielle, go back to their Dutch hometown, where Antonia's late mother has bestowed a small farm upon her. There, Antonia settles down and joins a tightly-knit but unusual community. Those around her include quirky friend Crooked Finger, would-be suitor Bas and, eventually for Antonia, a granddaughter and great-granddaughter who help create a strong family of empowered women.

After killing a prison guard, convict Robert Stroud faces life imprisonment in solitary confinement. Driven nearly mad by loneliness and despair, Stroud's life gains new meaning when he happens upon a helpless baby sparrow in the exercise yard and nurses it back to health. Despite having only a third grade education, Stroud goes on to become a renowned ornithologist and achieves a greater sense of freedom and purpose behind bars than most people find in the outside world.

Miguel and Diego are on the same water polo team. Miguel just wants to enjoy the sport. Diego, on the other hand, has only one goal: to play in the big leagues. Little by little, both will discover that there is more than just chlorine between them.
