Midnight Abyss

In the horror thriller "JEKKA," the Monroe coffee plantation is haunted by a curse after the grandmother of an indigenous girl injects her blood into the thorns of a devil tree, cursing the family's bloodline and land. Dr. Bruce Monroe, accused of heinous crimes, meets his demise, and 20 years later, his daughter Gabriela inherits the plantation. Upon her return, she unwittingly activates the curse, unleashing violent nightmares that come to life. As Gabriela confronts the haunting legacy of her family's past, she must find a way to break the curse's hold before it consumes her. A busload of travelers and their disgraced priest tour guide, on the hunt for Aztec ruins, decide to stop in a Mexican village on the eve of the Day of the Dead. Unbeknownst to them, a local doctor plans to begin a diabolical ritual intended to bring about Hell on Earth.

A short experimental film that thematizes dreams and nightmares in a surrealistic way. The basis of the movie is found in the poetry created by the two directors, so the film partly seems like stringed lyrical motifs, open to arbitrary interpretation, giving the impression of poetic images arranged in sequences. Combined techniques were used, so in addition to recording with a camera, pixilation, object animation, collage and liquid animation are featured.
