Susan is a filmmaker working on a documentary about subway suicides at Mexico City. Roberto is an undocumented Mexican immigrant who cleans windows in New York. Roberto meets Susan and they start hanging out, sharing their own experiences.

Imagine leaving everything you have, everyone you know, everyone you love, behind. Having to cross half a continent on foot, atop freight trains, inside truck trailers. Swimming across wild rivers. Crossing borders illegally. Walking across the Arizona desert. Being shot at, robbed and beaten. Raped. Surviving it all. Crossing into the USA, after life in the poorest parts of Central America. A private eye is hired by an insurance company to investigate a shipping magnate suspected of deliberately sinking his own ships for the insurance money. He finds himself involved in a web of deception, double-crossing and murder.

During a walk in the woods, Josephine and Piotr ask themselves whether time, money and the government are not all but fictions.
