The first season of Upin & Ipin was published specifically to celebrate Ramadhan 2007 to educate children about the meaning and importance of the holy month. The great response to this short series prompted Les' Copaque to publish another season in connection with the next month of Ramadan. The first season of Upin & Ipin won the Best Animation award at the 2007 Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival.

Season 1 Episode 6 - Hari Raya

The episode starts with the boys, grandmother and sister visiting their parent’s grave in the morning of Raya. On their return from visiting the grave, their friends are around at their house to celebrate Raya together. We then see how they enjoy the food prepared by their grandmother with all their friends of various races and religions. While eating, they will be sharing their experience of fasting for the first time and Opah who will always be around providing advices and encouragements for them to fast in the coming years. Season 1 Episode 1 - Esok Puasa

This episode shows how two 5 years old boys, Upin and Ipin, reacts when the word “fasting” is introduced to them. Like any other kids, they are curious to the reason and purpose of fasting. Their chance of following their Grandmother and sister to the surau for tarawikh is only realized after a few days of fasting. Tarawikh prayers, which is only performed during the month of Ramadhan, is an occasion that children look upon to play with their friends at night rather than praying.
