It was also Nickelodeon's best performance for a series premiere in almost eight years. Despite this, many critics have made negative comments about the show, its setting, and its characters.

MTV's second foray into the soap opera format following the run of the anthology series Undressed, the series was originally called Spyder Web in development. The final episodes, originally scheduled to air during the week of 10 September 2001, were postponed by a week because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
