Goran Zivanovic

Goran Zivanovic is an Australian filmmaker, screenwriter, author, and educator recognized for his evocative and unsettling storytelling style. Born in Belgrade, Serbia, and moving to Australia at the age of two, Goran was raised in an environment where everyday reality often intertwined with strange, unexplained events—an influence that would later define much of his work. From a young age, he was captivated by stories that challenged boundaries and defied conventional notions of reality. Goran’s passion for storytelling led him to pursue formal education in film production, where he honed his screenwriting skills. Over the years, he has taught screenwriting at a formal film school, helping to shape the next generation of filmmakers. Known for his unique approach, Goran encourages pushing creative limits while staying grounded in the emotional essence of a narrative. His reputation as a qualified and inspiring instructor has made him a trusted guide in the classroom and beyond. In addition to his screenwriting expertise, Goran is a published author, having several books to his name. His written works, much like his films, explore complex psychological and supernatural themes, blending raw emotional depth with elements of the unknown. In 2013, Goran co-founded GothicZen® Studios, a boutique production house that has helped independent filmmakers bring their stories to life. The studio is known for its collaborative approach and distinctive projects ranging from documentaries to narrative films, all marked by Goran’s hauntingly seductive style. Goran’s films often explore psychological tension, the supernatural, and the blurred lines between reality and illusion. His storytelling challenges viewers, drawing them into a world where the familiar becomes unsettling. His independent documentary, "Octopus Heart," examines the emotional aftermath of trauma through the lens of Takotsubo Syndrome, also known as Broken Heart Syndrome. Much of Goran’s creative evolution is rooted in his personal experiences with the unknown. His encounters with the supernatural—including being struck by lightning and surviving a near-death experience (NDE)—have influenced much of his work, blending his personal history with broader existential questions. On his YouTube channel, GothicZen® Experience, Goran explores mystical phenomena like Near-Death Experiences (NDEs), Out-of-Body Experiences (OBEs), and alien interactions. He also shares his screenwriting knowledge through free masterclasses, encouraging filmmakers to tell their stories authentically. Born : Unknown
