Norbert Terry

Norbert Terry, born Norbert Alfred Torasso, is a French film director, producer, and distributor, known for his pioneering work in gay pornography in France. Born in Jemappes, Algeria, he served in the French Forces during World War II. Post-war, Terry emigrated to the United States, adopting the name Norbert Terry. He returned to France and became a significant figure in the adult film industry, directing and producing films such as Rien que par derrière (1979) and Les Phallophiles (1979). Terry's work is noted for its bold exploration of homosexual themes, contributing to the visibility and acceptance of gay cinema in France. Born : 28th-Nov-1924

Love School

Disguising himself as a geisha and introducing himself as Madame Mufiko, a certain Max Fox opens a school in Paris where he proposes to teach the Japanese art of love. He recruits a few students, boys and girls, to whom he teaches to imitate the positions represented on old prints. The young people set themselves to it with such ardor that soon the girls are pregnant. In addition, the school is put under police surveillance and the false Mufiko sees her true identity revealed.

Mondo Homo: A Study of French Gay Porn in the '70s

Between 1975 and 1983 a new kind of film could be seen in French cinema : home-grown gay pornography. The films were shot in 16mm and most of them were passed and given certificates by the CNC (National Cinema Centre). They were screened in a small number of Parisian cinemas dedicated to gay pornographic films : Le Dragon, La Marotte and Le Hollywood Boulevard as well as several in the provinces. They were essentially the work of three production companies : Les Films de La Troïka (Norbert Terry), AMT Productions (Anne-Marie Tensi) and Les Films du Vertbois (principally Jacques Scandelari). The genre met an untimely end with the advent of video, the last being made in 1983 "Mon ami, mon amour (My friend, my lover)". Since then, gay pornography has not been screened in French cinemas. This film is the result of five years of painstaking research and investigation. It features extensive interviews with the directors and actors illustrated by numerous extracts from their films.
