The Kill

Just as Ratboy launched the very first backside 360 air, The Kill helped launch the careers of Ratboy and Flea. The Kill came onto the surfing screen stealing the limelight from southern California and shining it directly on the northern part of the state, particularly Santa Cruz. Prior to the internet, the only way to see new surfing maneuvers was by watching the latest surf videos. The Kill includes Ratboys famous breakout performance, which took him from an unknown seventeen-year-old to the cover of Surfer Magazine. The Johnny Boy Gomes interview would become the material of surfing lore. Pomers interview with the most intimidating surfer in the world disarmed him in a way no one had seen before. The Kill 2

Ratboy's section would be relevant going up against any surfing video today. His style is smoother, his airs more radical including the very first frontside 360 air, in which he spins all the way around. It was earth-shattering at the time. Pomer focuses his new and improved video camera not only on Santa Cruz surfers, but on some of the best surfers in the world outside of Santa Cruz. Spending the winter on the North Shore, he caught on film the amazing rides of Slater, Shane Dorian, and Kalani Robb.

The Kill 3

The Kill 3 is almost two hours long, making it the longest Kill movie. Pomer includes not only mass footage, but also behind-the-scenes fun and games. Ratboy goofs around hunting lizards. Tyler Smith catches a fish and releases it after getting it stoned. In addition, there are fun trips to Mexico and Hawaii. Pomer had just cemented a relationship with the legendary surfer Tom Curren and it shows in the 100% exclusive footage of Curren surfing at his own secret point break. Pomer captured the reclusive Curren in his element by riding bikes with him to this lost point and surfing with him before breaking out the camera. It offers a glimpse of Curren that can be found nowhere else: Curren surfing all by himself in his own nirvana. This is special footage of a time that is long gone. And dont forget about the Ratboy Shove-It. The first ever recorded.
