Jamel - Lauter Widerstand

The small village of Jamel in the northwest of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is considered a right-wing extremist stronghold. In the past, neo-Nazis have deliberately moved here. Using right-wing slogans and symbols, they openly claim dominance over the village. In the middle of it all: the artist couple Birgit and Horst Lohmeyer. In search of a rural idyll, the Lohmeyers moved to the village in 2004, underestimating the situation there, where they encountered right-wing extremist thinking and rejection, even threats. Instead of allowing themselves to be driven away, they make a statement against it every year with the "Jamel Rocks the Forester" music festival. After their barn was set on fire, they and their festival received prominent support from the German music scene. The documentary shows that the conditions in the village are not an isolated case and that folkish landgrabs by right-wing extremists are a widespread problem, but also how music can help fight for democracy.

Bundesvision Song Contest

Self - The Bundesvision Song Contest is an annual competition created by German TV entertainer Stefan Raab in 2005. For each of the 16 states of Germany a song is chosen by regional radio stations. The songs are performed on live television in order to find the most popular song in the competition. The TV format makes use of premium-priced viewer interactivity, with viewers voting for their favourite songs by phone or SMS. The show is loosely based on the Eurovision Song Contest and its rules aim at promoting German-language music by requiring that at least 50 percent of the lyrics have to be performed in German.

Sarah Kuttner – Die Show

self - guest - Sarah Kuttner – Die Show was a German television talk show that ran on VIVA and was then transferred to MTV under the title Kuttner. in mid-2005. It ran from August 2, 2004 to August 3, 2006. Hosted by Sarah Kuttner, it was a more youthful variation on the traditional late show concept with a sidekick, Sven Schuhmacher, and various national as well as international celebrity guests. The show also featured humorous reports by Michael Wigge and Caroline Korneli, its own band and musical guests performing live on stage. When MTV took over other German music channel VIVA in 2004, it was suggested, the show would be cancelled, which drew massive protests from fans. It was then cut from four shows per week to just two shows and later transferred to MTV and renamed Kuttner. Production was relocated from Cologne to Berlin. MTV cancelled Kuttner. in summer 2006 due to low ratings and high production costs.
