Sumiati lets her husband marry Yati because she cannot bear a child. But when Yati delivers, Sumiati is pregnant and gives birth to Mira. Mira’s presence worries Yati. Therefore Yati accuses Sumiati of cheating. Sumiati leaves the house. Mira learns of this history as Yati always insults her when she asks for her monthly allowance. There is more tension when Rachmat, who is matched to Yati’s daughter, Neneng, is more attracted to Mira. By chance, Mira repeatedly catches Yati having affairs. Her father is furious. Then Yati runs away with the fortune and the child of her affair. Neneng, who stays, commits suicide. Her father realises his mistake and reconciles with Sumiati. Rachmat has also come back for Mira.

Although his friend, Leo, who also works for the syndicate, defends him, the drug boss orders his men to kill Samboja. Dyah, the daughter of a cultural attaché, sympathises with him, especially when she finds out that he visits the daughter of Astri, the prostitute, in the orphanage.

So Yanti goes to her old friend, Irma, and becomes a bartender of a brothel in Tandes. One day, her stepfather comes to the brothel and sees Yanti. Yanti avoids him by leaving with one of the guests from the bar. Then Frans comes to take her out of the place. But Bambang confronts Frans so Yanti takes a knife and stabs Bambang. Yanti goes to jail but she gets married inside the prison.

Structured as a film within a film, Rhoma Irama and his girlfriend, Aida, are hired to make a film by Leo and his right hand, Richard. While Rhoma has several shows in the same city, Leo pursues his criminal activities. For him, moviemaking is a camoulflage for his crimes. Richard, who is still in love with Aida, tries to separate Rhoma from the girl. While filming a scene, Rhoma is stabbed for real. While Rhoma is in hospital, Imron, a Rhoma impersonator is introduced. Then a scenario is written for Richard to get Aida. Later, Rhoma impersonates Imron and pulls Imron’s girlfriend Nina out from prostitution. Finally, Rhoma is able to solve the whole drama and Aida is back in his arms. Rhoma’s songs, which are his trademark and selling point, continue to be used.
