Ingrid Mason

Ingrid Mason (born June 1952) is an Australian actress and writer. She graduated from NIDA in 1973. Mason had a long running role on TV in The Sullivans. She was originally cast as Miranda in Picnic at Hanging Rock before being replaced by Anne-Louise Lambert and then being given a different part. Ingrid is the daughter of an Australian planter and coastwatcher, Paul Edward Allen Mason. Born : 1st-Jun-1952

In the early 1900s, Miranda attends a girls boarding school in Australia. One Valentine's Day, the school's typically strict headmistress treats the girls to a picnic field trip to an unusual but scenic volcanic formation called Hanging Rock. Despite rules against it, Miranda and several other girls venture off. It's not until the end of the day that the faculty realizes the girls and one of the teachers have disappeared mysteriously.

The series told the story of an average middle-class Melbourne family and the effect World War II had on their lives. It was a consistent ratings success in Australia, and also became popular in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Gibraltar and New Zealand.
