Sueyan Cox

Sueyan graduated with a diploma in Performing Arts, Theatre, in Brisbane in 1984. Her first stage production was Summer Time Blues at the La Boîte Theatre followed by Loves Labour Lost with the Royal Queensland Theatre Company. Her first foray into television was behind the scenes. In 1976 she was a producers Assistant at the ABC on the News and This Day Tonight. In 1979 she got her first on camera role as co-presenter on the children's programme Over Ann's Rainbow and the lifestyle show Your Home. In 1990 Sueyan appeared in two films for Warner Roadshow, Bloodmoon and Deap Sleep with Linda Blair and Tonny Bonner. In between gigs she kept herself busy with VoiceOver work for both radio and television. Sueyan moved to Sydney in 1991 and won the part of Barbara in the English farce Run For Your Wife followed by the Aussie favourite Dimboola. Then it was back to the ABC co-presenting a fun panel show TVTV - 'It felt like coming home, after all those years'. Since then Sueyan has made guest appearances in Water Rates, Marking Time, Between Two Worlds and Back To the Rafters but it was a small budget short film directed by Ryan Cooper called Left Behind that she is most proud of. Marking Time

Aunty Sarah - Marking Time was an Australian television mini-series, consisting of four one-hour episodes. It first aired on 9 and 10 November 2003 on ABC-TV. Directed by Cherie Nowlan and written by John Doyle, it was the first mainstream television/film project to address the issue of the Australian government's refugee policy, a topic it approaches by chronicling the emotional journey of one young man during his year off after graduation, in his fictional rural home-town of Brackley, Australia. The storyline of Marking Time was inspired by the real-life experiences of Afghan refugees and their hosts in the rural town of Young, New South Wales; however much of the outdoor scenes of the series were actually shot at Singleton, New South Wales, in the Hunter Region.
