François Darlan

Jean Louis Xavier François Darlan (7 août 1881 - 24 décembre 1942) était un amiral et homme politique français. Chef de la Marine française au début de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il est ministre de la Marine du premier gouvernement du maréchal Pétain puis, en février 1941, chef du gouvernement de Vichy où il s'implique dans la politique de collaboration du régime avec l'Allemagne nazie. Remplacé par Pierre Laval en avril 1942, il reste commandant en chef des forces de Vichy. Présent à Alger lors dudébarquement allié en Afrique du Nord en novembre 1942, il se rallie avec réticences et hésitations aux Alliés. Il est assassiné le 24 décembre 1942. Born : 7th-Aug-1881
