Muhammad Amin bin Haji Ihsan or better known as M. Amin(1 September 1924 – 8 January 2003) is a Malaysian actor, director and writer. He was known for his socio -political observations on the Malays which inspired him into his films. His career began in 1950's when he migrated to Singapore to apply for a position as a sailor. However, things took a change as he was called to acted under the direction of an Indian at Malay Film Productions. Since he was good at reading, he has served at Malay Film company as a teacher to teach the Malay actors to write and read. Born : 1st-Sep-1924

Sultan Mahmood Mangkat Di-Julang

Based on the royal and political events during the heyday of the Malacca Sultanate. A member of the Sultanate, Megat Datuk Seri Rama, successfully defeats a group of pirates, and rescues a local beautiful woman in the process. The king, Sultan Mahmud, was delighted with his victory for his kingdom and promotes Megat Datuk Seri Rama to Rear Admiral Datuk. This leads to resentment and jealousy from another member of the court, Bija Tun Ali, especially after Rear Admiral Megat Datuk Seri Rama marries the woman he rescued. Goddess of Purity

The film Dewi Murni is an adaptation of Kalidasa’s Shakuntala. This is established through the identification of chronological events that are similar to the story of Shakuntala authored by Kalidasa. Adaptations have been made to the Indian story, transforming it to the Malay version and prominent differences are notable. The principal story of Dewi Murni remains the same whereby the main characters meet in unlikely surroundings, woo and get married. Both King Dushyanta [in Shakuntala] and King Indraloka [in Dewi Murni] lose memory of their wives (in different ways), the heroines lose their signet rings and are rejected by their respective husbands at the palace court. In both stories, the rings are discovered in a fish’s maw and upon its re-emergence, the kings’ memories of their respective wives are regained. Dang Anom, the beautiful daughter of Sang Rajuna Tapa, is engaged to Panglima Malang. Having fallen for Dang Anom, the Sultan makes her his concubine against her wish. Unfortunately, they are caught and the Sultan sentences the lovers to be killed in a cruel manner. In order to save his daughter, Sang Rajuna Tapa opens the gate of the fort and lets the army of the Majapahit into the sultanate.

The Virgin of Borneo

Asun, a young man from the Dayak jungle tribe ventures out of the forest and gets lost. He is rescued by Malay villagers, and befriends one of their sons, Noor. Years go by, and the two of them remain friends. Noor, by now the head of his village, sets off on a long jungle trip with Asun. Unfortunately, they are attacked by Iban warriors, who capture Noor and take him to their village, where they intend to cut his head off during a sacrificial ritual.

Raden Mas

The movie adaptation based on the legend of Raden May Ayu. It follows the original tale rather closely, though a few variations of the legend do exist. The essence of each of the variations is more or less the same: Radin Mas Ayu is the baby daughter of Pangeran (brother of the Sultan of Java) and a court dancer; she is forced to go on exile to Temasek with his father after the Sultan disagrees with her parents' marriage and burns their house down, killing her mother. Radin Mas Ayu grows up to be a pious and filial daughter, but is despised out of jealousy by her stepmother. She eventually sacrifices herself as she shields her father from a murderous attack.

Twin Sisters

KEMBAR is about two identical twin sisters who are separated at a young age. One of the twins, Asmah (Mariam), gets lost during a family outing to a night carnival. An old fisherman finds Asmah and adopts her. The other twin, Asiah (also Mariam, in a double role), grows up to be a famed dance hostess. Asmah, on the other hand, lives in the fishing village with her foster father. A chance encounter (love at first sight) in waters off the village leads Asmah to fall in love with Bashir, a wealthy young man from the city. However, they lose touch when Asmah relocates elsewhere to work as a servant. Bashir tries to seek Asmah out, but gets acquainted with the other twin Asiah instead. A case of mistaken identity that eventually leads to tragedy.
