Profile

Spotted by a producer in Mediacorp in 2004, Jesseca Liu was offered the meaty role of He Yi Xuan in the sports-themed drama, “The Champion”. From then, she began her career as a full-time actress in Singapore. Her portrayal of a Vietnamese bride in the 100-episode drama serial “Portrait of Home” bagged her the Most Popular Newcomer Award and earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at Star Awards 2005. She scored her first leading role in “Rhapsody In Blue” in 2006 which led to more lead roles for the popular star. She played the female lead in many Mediacorp highly-rated serials including “Secrets For Sale”, “The Oath”, “Marry Me”, “Blessings”，” Mind Matters”，” Babies On Board” and “Hero”. In 2014, she wrote her first web drama script, “Who Killed The Lead” where she played the female lead and the script was awarded for Best Digital Fiction & Non-Fiction Series at the Asian Television Awards. She also played the role of a mother for the first time and paired with Taiwan actor-host Jacko Chiang in a local movie, “Bring Back The Dead”. Most recently, she received the "Outstanding Leading Actress in Comedy" Award at the 2019 Asia Rainbow TV Awards for her role in Born : 13th-Feb-1979

球爱大战

Cai Yanfang - A shining star in the court of volleyball, Cai Yanfang (Jesseca Liu) is unfortunately self-centred and critical. She falls out with her teammates and dragged her best friend Rainie (Joanne Peh) along to switch to beach volleyball. All is not smooth-sailing as Rainie is immensely jealous of Yanfang's talent, and they eventually break up over Ma Tianwu (Christopher Lee), a beach bar owner. Rainie forms a new team to compete, while Yanfang discovers a hidden talent in Sixing (Dawn Yeoh), a nerdy Maths student. But Yanfang's selfishness and critical nature surface and it threatens to break the partnership. Sixing also gets distracted with the good-looking Tianwu. On the eve of a major competition, a madly jealous Rainie sends thugs to beat Sixing up, but Yanfang gets injured while trying to save the latter. An injured Yanfang is determined to compete, but her injury worsens at the crucial moment, will this be the end of her championship dreams?

Although already besotted with Qiao Shan, Shao Qi encourages her to go back to Caleb as her heart is still with him. Caleb re-accepts Qiao Shan. Yet an unexplainable sense of loss overcomes her as she returns to his side.

Zhang Wei Xiong - The story starts in Dakota Crescent, an old estate which is going to be reclaimed by the authorities for redevelopment. The story centres around three protagonists living in Dakota Crescent, Zhou Fa Da, Ye Xiao Ying and Zhang Wei Xiong. Big Brother Fa Da, Wei Xiong and Xiao Ying are the three musketeers of the neighborhood, people often refer to them as "The Heroes". Within ten years, Wei Xiong has become a capable lawyer, Xiao Ying now has a wife. During these ten years, Big brother left Dakota Crescent without a word. Nobody knows of his whereabouts, not even Wei Xiong. This led the neighbours into making wild speculations about his disappearance. Some said he was involved in a kidnapping case, other said that he was in prison. Ten years later, Big brother is finally back. He still retains his strong sense of justice and is prone to impulsiveness, hence turning the neighborhood upside down. However, he refuses to reveal the reasons behind his disappearance.

Qin Xiu Xiu - Five years ago, Toh Jin Shu was a shining star in the field of psychology. But his ex-patient, Loo Hai Ning found his hiding place, her appearance starts to complicate matters.

But his father objects to the relationship and arranges for Wending to marry a rich merchant's daughter, Sun Xiulan. Bound by tradition, he accedes to his father's wish. On Mid-Autumn night, he falls into a well and loses his consciousness. When he wakes up, he is shocked to find himself in modern Singapore. He gets to know two brothers, who are his descendants. Xiji in the modern world is, unfortunately, facing a business crisis and Wending tries his best to save it. In the process, he meets his westernised rival, She Meiren, who looks exactly like Xiaomei but with a different personality. In the battle between modern and traditional ways, both of them fall in love with each other.

任我遨遊

- The Champion is an idol drama produced by Mediacorp in Singapore. It was telecast from October 20 to November 16, 2004. The show stars Taiwanese idol Toro, Yan Xingshu, Qi Yuwu, Julian Hee, Jeanette Aw, Felicia Chin, Fiona Xie and Joyce Zhao, all young actors and actresses. This show also marked Jesseca Liu's acting debut. It received one of the highest viewership rate during the telecast of the show, especially since there were a few semi-nude scenes such as Qi Yuwu stripping on-screen and Fiona Xie and other members of the Flying Fish running down Orchard Road in their bikinis. This was also the first drama which allowed viewers to vote via a SMS competition on Nov 16 2004 for the viewers' favourite 2-minute short ending which was aired on Nov 17 2004 at 8.58 pm just before the debut of the next drama My Mighty In-Laws.
